Research Abstract |
We investigated possibilities of using linguistic materials in teaching scientific methods. The scientific processes in contemporary linguistics usually include data collection, facts, hypothesis construction, theoretical predictions, validity of predictions, theoretical implications. We have shown it is possible to teach scientific methods effectively in elementary, junior high and senior high school classes through the use of students' metalinguistic abilities. We also developed relevant teaching materials with the help of school teachers.
