Research Abstract |
In order to solve the global mercury pollution, a proxy that indicates different sources of mercury (Hg) and Hg biogeochemical cycle must be developed. In this study, an analytical technique for determining Hg isotope ratios in fishes precisely was developed using cold-vapor generation and multi-collector ICP/MS. The Hg isotopic compositions in fishes indicated their mass-independent fractionation and are totally different from those of Hg in sediments and rocks derived from naturally-emitted Hg.
