Research Abstract

During the FY, I presented the research findings in referred international conference and academic society’s annual conference in Japan. Moreover, I conducted two fieldworks in South Asia (India and Bangladesh). In Oct., 2013, I have presented a preliminary research findings on India titled “Muslims’ Education in India: Patterned Religious-Cultural Norms and Social Disparity in a Community in Hapur District, Uttar Pradesh” in the 26th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for South Asian Studies-JASAS, held at Hiroshima University. During Nov-Dec, 2013, I visited India for attending an international conference and conducting fieldwork. During the visit, I presented a research paper in the 3rd International Congress of Bengal Studies at the University of Calcutta. In the last months of the FY 2013, I have concentrated on preparing a research article on Muslim minority education in India for publication consideration in the Journal of Japanese Association for South Asian Studies. Moreovere, I wrote a review paper on Pakistan madrasas and contributed to a book on Rights to Education in South Asia which is forthcoming under Kyoto University Press.
