Research Abstract |
This study examines the establishment of Regent’s Park within the development of the public park movement in nineteenth-century Britain. The park was established as a Crown’s property venture with a view to offering entertainment for upper and middle classes in London. Within this context, London Zoological Society and Royal Botanic Society were allowed to locate their gardens within the new park. It was a long time before it was opened to all people, regardless of class.
