Research Abstract |
[Function analysis of DJ-1 secreted under oxidative stress] We found that secreted DJ-1 from astrocytes protected co-cultured neurons against oxidative stress. Furthermore, we found that the amount of secreted DJ-1 mutants found in Familial Parkinson's disease PARK7 was less than DJ-1 wt. [Function analysis of DJ-1 as protease] We analyzed the biochemical characterization of DJ-1 protease. Futhermore, we identified the recognition sequences for DJ-1 protease and targeted proteins.
