Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A novel navigation system was developed, by which portal anatomy could be recognized easily in the procedure of portal embolization owing to comparison of actual fluoroscopic portal image with three-dimensional image rendered from preoperative CT data by simulation software. Small portal branches were detected by the navigation in 3 cases (25%) which could not be found only by fluoroscopy. A strong correlation (R=0.990) was found between the weight of the liver specimen and liver volume estimated by preoperative simulation. After the pilot study, intraoperative navigation system was developed and turned into actual utilization, which enabled accurate liver resection along to surgical plan by preoperative simulation.
