Research Abstract |
Tail flick or formalin test demonstreated that D-amino acid deficient mice decreased pain threshold. The expressin of mRNA and protein of serine racemase and D-amino acid oxidase increased in forebrain (striatum, hippocampus, cortex) and spinal cord of neuropathic pain model (SNL model). The levels of D-serine increased in forebrain and spinal cord in SNL model. These results demonstrated that elevated D-serine level in SNL model developing neuropathic pain could at least in part be involeved in the activation of NMDA receptor via glycine site.
