Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In our first study, we conducted a randomized controlled trial with the aim of elucidating the effects of the application of a hot compress to the posterior region of the neck (PRN) in inpatients. The effect model for the pleasure experienced during "application of hot compress to the PRN" showed two processes: (a) the "pleasure during PRN" gives rise to a "warm sensation in the hands and feet" and increases "subjective sleep time", and thereby "alleviates symptoms"; and (b) the "increased vitality" that follows "pleasure during application of hot compress" leads to "stabilization of feelings". In our second study, we conducted a questionnaire survey on nurses to develop a model of the "effects of nursing care using hyperthermia". The patients who felt good during a nursing care using the hyperthermia were "comfortable". Consequently, these patients felt "rest" and "increased vitality". Finally, they experienced "improvement of living", "palliation" and "stabilization of feelings".
