Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、超新星残骸・活動銀河核などの高エネルギー天体の放射機構・粒子加速機構、宇宙線の起源を解明すること、さらにガンマ線観測を通して暗黒物質探索を行うことである。本年度、以下の成果を得た。
１、20 GeV～100 TeVのガンマ線を従来よりも一桁高い感度で大気チェレンコフ望遠鏡を用いて観測する次期計画CTAの口径23m望遠鏡に搭載する焦点面カメラについて、以下の開発を行った。（１）本課題で開発した読み出し回路基板に、光電子増倍管およびライトガイドを取り付けて、1/14スケールのミニカメラを製作し、LED光照射量や光電子増倍管の電圧を変えながら、較正データを取得した。（２）スペイングループが製作した望遠鏡1号機用カメラ筐体に、読み出し回路１枚を取り付けて、通電試験を行い、基板間位置など構造上問題がないことを確認した。
２、MAGIC望遠鏡によるサブTeV/TeVガンマ線観測のデータを解析した。（１）活動銀河核PKS 1441+25(赤方偏移0.94)からの超高エネルギーγ線放射を発見した。スペクトル解析から、γ線の放射領域は、準静時は、広輝線領域(BLR)の内側、フレア時はBLR外側であることが示唆された。また、天体からのガンマ線が地球に届くまでに、可視赤外背景放射(EBL)によって吸収されることを利用し、観測されたスペクトルから、EBLの上限値を得た。銀河形成理論によるEBLモデルや、銀河数カウントと無矛盾であった。（２）かにパルサーからのTeVγ線パルスを発見した。電子のローレンツ因子の下限値から、パルサー風の放射機構に対して制限を与えた。

Reason

次期大気チェレンコフ望遠鏡であるCTA口径23m望遠鏡の焦点に搭載する、光電子増倍管からの信号を高速で波形サンプリングする回路を量産し、較正データの取得を開始した。また、現行のMAGIC望遠鏡によるTeVガンマ線観測によって、超高エネルギーγ線領域で、現時点で最遠方の活動銀河核を検出し、γ線放射領域および可視赤外背景放射強度について重要な発見があった。さらに、パルサーからの超高エネルギーγ線パルスを発見し、パルサーの放射機構および粒子加速機構に対して制限を与えた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

次期計画CTA口径23m望遠鏡に搭載する高速波形サンプリング回路の開発を今後も続け、望遠鏡１号機に搭載するカメラを完成させ、実証観測を目指す。また、本課題による観測が少ない超新星残骸を、現行MAGIC望遠鏡およびFermi衛星を用いて観測し、銀河内宇宙線起源の解明を目指す。
