Outline of Annual Research Achievements

新規に開発した低弾性率β型Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr合金(TNTZ)および低弾性率ヤング率自己調整機能型β型Ti-Cr系合金の脊柱矯正器具用ロッドへの適用を視野に入れた研究開発を展開した。
TNTZでは、強歪加工法の1つである高圧捩り加工(HPT)や微粒子衝突法により、低弾性率維持を維持したままでの高強度化を達成し、さらには酸素添加による耐摩耗性の改善にも成功した。Ti-Cr系合金では、Ti-12Cr合金を中心として、Crおよび酸素量の適正化を行い、変形双晶誘起塑性(TWIP)による高強度・高延性化を達成できることを見出し、かつその場合同時に誘起されるω相につき詳細な解析を行った。さらには、細胞毒性試験によりTi-Cr系合金の生体親和性の優位性を実証した。

Reason

脊柱固定用ロッドへの適用を念頭に、低弾性β型Ti29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr合金(TNTZ)およびTi-Cr合金に注目し、これらの合金における骨構造機能発現のための合金設計、合金組成の最適化、相安定性の制御、高強度・高延性化、高耐久化、高摩耗抵抗化、細胞および動物(兎)を用いての生体組織適合性評価、生体活性セラミックス表面修飾による生体親和性の促進、高形状付与性を進めてきている。
特に、Ti-Cr合金では、ヤング率自己調整機能を付与することができ、それによる形状付与性の著しい改善を達成するとともに、それに伴う自己強化機能の発現への可能性を見出すことができている。また、組成制御によりβ相の安定度を制御することによって、変形双晶誘超塑性(TWIP)を発現させ、Ti-Cr合金の高強度・高延性化を達成している点は、大きな成果である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr合金(TNTZ)およびTi-Cr合金製脊柱固定用ロッドへの骨構造機能類似の自己強化機能を付与するための合金組成制御およびピーニング(特にキャビテーションピーニング)による表面処理を推進することに主眼を置いて研究開発を展開する。その場合、各合金におけるω相および酸素濃度の制御を最適化し、ロッドの実用化に重要なASTM 1717に準じた圧縮疲労強度の改善を主目的とする。
