Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では、大気核実験や原子力関連施設及び福島第一原発事故等で環境中に放出された人為起源の長寿命放射性核種であるC-14, Cl-36, I-129等を加速器質量分析法(Accelerator Mass Spectrometry: AMS)で高感度に検出する手法を開発して、環境中での放射性核種分布の状況調査と環境影響評価研究を実施する。環境中に放出された極微量の長寿命放射性核種について、高感度・高精度AMS測定による環境動態研究の総合的な展開を図る。
昨年度から継続して、福島県及びその周辺地域の土壌及び河川での人為起源放射性核種の環境移行調査を実施した。福島県内の新田川及び請戸川の河川水及び溶存体中の放射性同位体と安定同位体の存在量について、その継時変化を観察した。また、福島県以外では千葉県の大堀川を対象河川として調査を実施した。福島第一原発事故起源の放射性核種の環境移行調査では、福島県内の原発周辺地域でのI-129の土壌中の深度分布について、AMSを用いて測定を実施した。
新たな加速器質量分析法の開発では、東京大学タンデム加速器施設の5 MVタンデム加速器を用いて、Cl-36の高効率検出法の開発を実施した。ガス充てん電磁石と多電極型ガス検出器の最適パラメータを粒子・重イオン輸送計算コードPHITSにより計算して、測定効率の改善をおこなった。Sr-90のAMS法の開発では、SrF3-ビーム生成試験を実施した。福島第一原発周辺の帰還困難区域で採取した農耕地土壌30 gを用いたSr回収率は80%だった。精製したSrF2に重量比4倍のPbF2を加え、最大76 nAのSrF3-ビームが発生し、実用上求められる100 nA近いビームが得られた。東京大学タンデム加速器施設における試験測定では、90Zr6+ビームをガス検出器に導入してAMS測定の設定パラメータを確認した。
