This research project aimed to investigate the thinking way of medieval Japanese Buddhism and find its contemporary meaning by way of comparing it with other thoughts. In order to attain these aims, the following research activities were carried out: 1) Investigation of the medieval manuscripts preserved at Shimpuku-ji temple in Nagoya and other temples. 2) Having research meetings in 2012, inviting both Buddhist scholars and philosophers. 3) Attending and reading papers at the China-Japan research conference on Buddhism in Beijin and at the International Conference of Philosophy in Athen in 2013. 4) Japanese translation of Bernard Faure’s Unmasking Buddhism, Chinese translation of Sueki’s Essays on Pure Land Buddhism and English translation of Sueki’s Buddhism vs. Ethics.
