Outline of Final Research Achievements

The aim of this study is the identification of the ancient sculptures and architectural structures in the landscape paintings of Giovanni Paolo Panini and the creation of a database. This study succeeded in identifying 55 ancient sculptures and 36 architectural structures. The database allowed us to examine drawn sculptures and architectural structures from the perspective of art history as well as statistically.
In addition, an experimental digital content was successfully created utilizing Apple’s iBooks Author. It provides us with interactive visualization of Panini’s "Roma Antica" in the Louvre Museum.
