Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Previously, I carried out a survey, analysis and comparison of newspapers, magazines and other materials preserved in libraries Japan, Korea and the United States. However, the quantity of the materials has been such that I have been unable to complete this and so I wish to continue surveying and analysing these materials. By these means, I will clarify the process whereby the modern Korean literary language and the modern language itself developed. In addition, I have continued my research into Lee Kwang-su and confirmed his outstanding qualities as a writer of prose and analyst of his own time, but these qualities cannot be attributed to his genius alone. It is necessary to make a deeper and more detailed study of all the students studying abroad at that time, such figures Namu Gunbyoku and Kim Don'in. Again, I have held two international symposia which clarified the role that students from the Korean Peninsula who studied abroad played in the formation of modern Korean literature.
