Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, we investigated and read Xixia administral documents and colophons of Buddhist sutras unearthed from the ruins located in near the Xixia-Mongolian border, and made it clear the defence attitude and relation between Xixia Buddhism and the Mongol invasion. As a result of our research, we clarified that Xixia was shorthanded its military force, and that Xixia government did not have an accurate its military force posting near the frontier. According to colophons of the sutras written in the begining of the 13th century, we did not find a feature been concious of the Mongol invasion. It is possible that Xixia government did not undertake Buddhism activity.
