Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We clarified that even though activists and organizations engaging in the revival movement of “dialects” in Belgium have considerable disagreement about the form of “standard language”, they share, as is the case in other movements for regional and minority languages, the perception that having a standard is essential for a further advance of the movement. It is aimed for introdaction of dialects to education and activities through use of ICTs, and is also under the influence of policies for official languages. However, in contrast to other movements for regional and minority languages, the “standard” intended in the movements for dialect is one that can be multicentric, flexible and permissive.
