Research Abstract |
In this study, we applied a contact model to a Lagrangian-Eulerian fluid-structure coupling method based on level sets in order to simulate folded airbag deployment. In the case of self-contact, a zero isosurface of the level set function disappears at the interface on the Eulerian fluid mesh. To avoid unphysical inflow/outflow on the contact surface and satisfy the kinematic condition, we introduced discontinuity of physical quantity into the interface treatment method. As a result, we confirmed that the airbag inflates with self-contact and showed the algorithmic performance on parallel computers.
