Research Abstract |
Preoperative oral carbohydrate treatment improved quality of recovery after surgery. Additionally, infusion of low-dose glucose attenuated fat catabolism without causing hyperglycemia, indicating that infusion of low-dose glucose during remifentanil-induced anesthesia may be safe for patients. During postoperative nutritional management, overfeeding induced protein catabolism since it might be from nutrition stress.
