Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is re-examination the role of the younger brother in “IE” in early modern Japan. It is believed that the family head was be representative of “IE”. The younger brother was not full-fledged member of society but assistant of the family head. However, this theory is ideological thinking and it has yet to be shown the primary source. I aim to re-examination this theory on the basis of the primary source―the letter and the diary. Here we found that the younger brother was in position to assistance of the family head in the private way.But he was unable to be representative of “IE” and his family member, and to perform the legal act.
