Outline of Annual Research Achievements

光電荷分離に関連して、合理的な分子設計と高度な合成技術を駆使して、多くのドナー・アクセプター系を合成し、基礎的知見を明らかにしてきた。特に、以下の顕著な研究成果を上げることができた。1)ポルフィリン・カーボンナノチューブ連結系において相互作用を系統的に変化させることで、光励起により生成・消滅する一重項エキシプレックス状態の電子カップリング依存性を初めて明らかにできた。2)ポルフィリン色素と酸化チタン界面に注目し、より強固に酸化チタンに吸着できるヒドロキサム酸、シリル基を吸着基とした色素を開発した。色素増感太陽電池の性能低下を大幅に抑制できることを長時間の疑似太陽光照射下実験で明らかにし、今後の他の色素への展開が期待できる。3)代表的な電子アクセプターであるフラーレン誘導体[70]PCBMの3つの異性体をすべて分離し、ベーター1型の異性体が会合しやすい特性を持つために、バルクヘテロ接合型ポリマー太陽電池において、太陽電池性能を低下させることを初めて解明した。4)光電荷分離分子に複数のカチオン性置換基を導入することで、人工細胞膜に導入した場合、86%という電荷分離効率の世界最高値を達成できた。また、その分子を生きた細胞の細胞膜に導入し、生体に優しい緑色光照射によって、膜電位の脱分極を実現できた。以上のように多様なドナー・アクセプター界面において当初の目標を超える多くの進展があり、研究が多方面に展開しつつある。
