| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究で設置した海洋観測器の回収を行い、サンゴ骨格およびシャコガイ殻の古環境指標の高精度キャリブレーションを引き続きおこなった。また鹿児島県喜界島の完新世サンゴ礁段丘から得られたサンゴ骨格の化学分析および骨格構造解析を行い、完新世温暖期のサンゴ骨格の酸素・炭素同位体比および微量元素分析をおこなった。完新世温暖期は現在よりも平均水温はほぼ同じであるが、東アジアモンスーンの強化によって水温の季節変動幅が大きいことがわかった。また、喜界島のような高緯度ではサンゴの骨格成長は水温が温暖であるほど大きいことがわかった。本研究の結果から、気候変動によるサンゴの分布の変化と骨格成長量の変化を把握し、温暖化地球に対するサンゴ礁生態系の耐性を理解する必要があることが示唆された。本研究の成果はドイツにて開催された“Tropical coral archives”と題したワークショップでドイツ、アメリカ、イタリア、フランス、インドネシア、日本など各国から集まったサンゴ礁研究者とともに議論した。また同ワークショップにて、サンゴ骨格から得られた気候変動の一次データの共有について話し合った。これまでに得られた成果は、国内外の学会で発表すると共に国際誌に論文を３編投稿し、現在３編を準備中である。現在、公表された分析データを、データベース上にサンゴコア試料情報と併せて共有化するための準備をおこなっている。また、これまで得られた結果を集約し、各海域並びに各温暖化時代における気候変動と石灰化生物の応答について議論し、成果報告としてまとめた。
