Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成27年度には、編隊型人工衛星Van Allen Probes衛星の磁場データ、イオンフラックスデータを用い、磁場双極子化イベントについての解析を行った。2012年10月1日から2013年10月31日までの13か月の期間から74例の磁場双極子化イベントを見出し、それらの統計的性質を調べた。これほど多くの磁場双極子化イベントが内部磁気圏で起こりうることを発見したのは、本研究が世界で初めてである。統計解析の結果、(1)双極子化の時間スケールは5分程度である、(2)双極子化中に強い磁場擾乱が現れ、その擾乱の典型的な周期はO+イオンのジャイロ周期に近い、(3)20-50 keVのイオンフラックスが増大し、その増加はO+イオンのほうがH+イオンより大きい、(4)双極子化の開始後数分してから、O+イオンのみに、時間分散性を持つ0.1-5 keVのフラックス増加が見られる、(5)この時間分散性O+イオンフラックス増加は磁場と平行方向または反平行方向のみに現れる、ことが明らかになった。(1)-(3)の結果は、過去にNose et al. [2010, 2014]がイベント解析に基づいて報告されてきたことと調和的であり、こうした性質は内部磁気圏における磁場双極子化の一般的なものであることが確実になった。(4),(5)の結果は、今回の研究により初めて明らかになったことであり、内部磁気圏への電離層起源イオン(O+イオン)の供給に磁場双極子化が重要な役割を果たしていることを示唆するものである。以上の研究成果は、J. Geophys. Res.誌に投稿中である。
