Outline of Final Research Achievements	This project reconfirms the much accumulated recognition that citizenship　education and Communication Studies share a lot in common within practical terrains, through conducting multiple inquiries and research. This is because both pedagogies compel practitioners to historically re-contextualize relations between the self and others, and thereby calling into a question power relations embedded within the fore-mentioned relations. Specifically, this project has two findings. First, both pedagogies urge practitioners to sustain publicness from which nobody is excluded in education and spaces for　enlightenment such as public speeches by political figures, chants in political rallies, and museum exhibits, and others. Second, “dissensus,” or disagreements, which inherently arises within pedagogical spaces, plays a critical role in sustaining “publicness.” This project concludes that dissensus has to be open, inviting further discursive praxis, without foreclosing itself into silence.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	シティズンシップ教育において、コミュニケーション教育が大きな役割を果たすことは論をまたない。とかく国民国家の影響を強く受ける教育やその他の啓蒙の場において、公共性を担保するのは困難ではあるが、本研究は、教育や啓蒙の場が固有に生み出すであろう衝突や齟齬を、その場にいる人々が解消することに公共性を認めるのではなく、それらを保持しつつ、その中から差異が生まれる場を共有し合うことをゴールとするモデルを提示した。その場こそが、さらなるコミュニケーションを生み出し、シティズンシップについて考察することができる機会を生み出すという認識が極めて重要である。衝突や齟齬を生み出す差異を生かすということだ。
