Outline of Final Research Achievements |
5-alpha-reductase inhibitors are used for Androgenetic Alopecia or benign prostatic hyperplasia from 2005. One study reported that 6 months of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors therapy caused ED at 3 months and at 6 months. Erectile function have close relationship to cardiovascular function. We investigated the erectile function and cardiovascular function in animal model. 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors decreased the erectile function in rats at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. However, the endothelial function of the rats’ aorta was not changed.
