Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research has examined historical processes of the United Nations response to conflicts between the Northern and Southern countries on international development policies, based on cases of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). First, it surveyed previous studies on the implications by the southern or peripheral countries on the decision making of international development policies. Even though the previous research has merely focused on the impact from the periphery, development activities cannot work without local assets within recipient countries. UNDP have utilized local human resources, funds, institutions and ideas in order to realize the operations and decide development policies. That is crucial for managing problems the periphery has faced. The research concluded that the localized processes for a long period and with close attention within recipient countries have been functioning as a behavioral principle of the UN development agencies.
