Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The study focused on design education in the art course of Swedish compulsory school, to explore the possibility of new design education that leads to develop the human resources for the design industry in Japan. The reason the study has focused on Sweden is because they are famous for its good design, and representative country of the Scandinavian design. The research is based on the analysis of the course of study and field survey in Swedish compulsory school “Grundskola”, and comparison with the course of study in Japanese compulsory school. As a result of study gotten the following knowledge. 1) A gap of recognition of art class in Japanese compulsory school and Swedish compulsory school for the meaning of “design”. 2) Art class in Swedish compulsory school is focusing on the design education elements such as a development of visual communication skills using the design thinking, and the image media (using computer) representation capability.
