Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research has set out to find how sensitivity to cold, which is often caused by poor circulation, before, during and after pregnancy has influence on puerperium. Each pregnant woman was asked to respond to a questionnaire regarding their awareness of their senses of coldness before pregnancy, late-term in their pregnancy, and four days after giving birth, as well as their pain and edema during pregnancy, while giving birth, and postpartum. The people who were experiencing sensitivity to the cold had dropped as they moved from a non-pregnant state to late in their pregnancy and after giving birth, but for 50 to 60% of those who expressed sensitivity to the cold had continued to have the same sensitivity during and after the pregnancy. Those who had a sensitivity to the cold before and during the latter part of their pregnancies had a tendency to have more premature rupture of the membrane, weak contractions, or atonic bleeding but not significantly different from others.
