Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、2018年度打ち上げ予定の火星・水星探査による観測データとの比較に向け、惑星内部条件における核候補物質(鉄-軽元素系合金液体・固体)の音速や密度測定から、圧力-温度-密度関係である状態方程式を明らかにし、惑星中心核の組成・内部構造の解明を目指している。2017年度は研究分担者(浦川・肥後・坂巻・鎌田博士)、研究協力者(近藤・西田博士)、海外共同研究者(Rivoldini博士)と協力し、以下の成果を得ることが出来た。
①液体合金について、大型プレスを用いて超音波法とX線吸収法によりFe-Ni-S,Si,S+Si系融体の音速と密度を16GPaまで測定し、その圧力・温度及び軽元素の効果を明らかにした(寺崎)。またFe-Ni-S系融体の密度と熱膨張率をX線吸収法で決定し、熱力学解析から15GPaにおけるFe-S系の共融組成融体の密度に強い制約を与えた(浦川)。
②固体合金については、Fe-SとFe-Si系合金の音速・密度を、ダイヤモンドアンビル(DAC)とX線非弾性散乱法(10GPa迄は大型プレスと超音波法)を用い、測定した。Fe3S合金は100GPa,1900Kまで測定し、高温下では音速低下が示唆された(鎌田)。Fe-Si合金は、80GPaまで測定し合金の各結晶構造に対し音速‐密度の関係を明らかにした(坂巻)。
③手法開発では、大型プレス用の高精度音速測定システムの構築と吸収測定用検出器を導入した。更に外熱式DACを用いたX線吸収法の密度測定開発を行い、液体金属の測定圧力を拡張した(Takubo et al.2018)。
④得られた鉄合金融体の音速、密度の測定結果から、探査データ情報と合わせて惑星内部構造モデリングを行い、各惑星核のS,Si組成に関する制約を得るに至った。この結果、火星核は従来以上のS量が必要となる事が示唆された(寺崎、Rivoldini)。
