| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
分子ビーム技術と分光技術を用いて、２次元シリコン(Si)構造で形成するモデル表面系の反応性を明らかにし、ロコ－反応の素過程解明とチューニングを目指した研究を進めた。
A. 貴金属銅(Cu)、銀(Ag)、Cu合金表面上における２次元Si構造の構築
Cuステップ表面に、調整した電子ビーム蒸着エバポレーターを用いて、２次元表面構造を構築することに成功した。低速電子回折とオージェ電子分光により、表面構造のSi被覆率依存性を明らかにした。Ag表面については、平坦な表面にシリセン構造を作製し、Cuの場合と同様に低速電子回折とオージェ電子分光により、表面構造のSi被覆率依存性を明らかにした。一方、Cu合金表面については、将来の2次元Si構造成長基板として可能性のあるAu、PdならびにPtとの合金表面の性質について明らかにした。
B. ２次元Si構造の反応性解明
項目Ａで準備したCuステップ表面におけるSi蒸着２次元構造が塩化メチル分子とどのように反応するのか、その反応性を昇温脱離法、赤外吸収分分光法、分子ビーム法を用いて明らかにした。反応性がSi蒸着量に大きく依存し、Siの蒸着していないステップエッジのCu原子が反応性に大きく関わっていることがわかった。これにより、ロコ－反応機構の解明に一歩近づいたと考えている。また、AgおよびSi蒸着Ag表面では、Cuの場合と比較すると、塩化メチル分子の吸着状態が大きく異なっており、Siと反応しないことがわかった。比較のため、Si単体の単結晶表面でも塩化メチル分子との反応性を調べた結果、非常に高い並進エネルギーの塩化メチル分子のみが反応することがわかった。これらのことから、表面上にCuとSiとの２次元構造が存在することがロコ－反応性には重要であることがわかった。その他、基板となるCuについては、エチレン等の分子を用いてステップ面と平坦面の反応性を評価した。
