Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have developed the time-resolved X-ray Diffraction experiment system by the pump-probe method with time resolution of 50 ps, in which the irradiation timing of synchrotron radiation pulse X-ray from the single bunch of electrons accumulated in the storage ring of SPring-8 is synchronized with the timing of the electric field applied to a sample by the X-ray chopper. We succeed in capturing the atomic motion in ferroelectric crystals associated with the polarization reversal and in a resonantly vibrating quartz crystal using the system. Novel lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with a huge lattice strain under applied electric field are found.
