Outline of Final Research Achievements

The authors conduct the research activities to clarify appropriateness of professional education in LIS (Library and Information Science) for school teacher-librarian and school library staffs.
At first, they collected professional knowledge and skills from descriptions in textbooks edited for educational programs. Secondly, examined were sufficiency of them, based on the interview with eight educators in universities. Thirdly, by using semi-constructed interview method, they gathered qualitative data on possible gaps between professional competencies and educational programs from eight school teacher-librarians and eight school library staffs,
In results, the authors found inappropriateness of educational program on librarianship for school library staffs, while as to the educational program for school teacher-librarians, there was little gap. They also recognized that not small quantity of knowledge and skills should be add in educational program for school library staffs.
