Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we take note of 1) “traditional body” such as annual events that protected from pre-modern times and 2) “modern body” that created at modern school space and so forth. We aim to think about how the image of Japanese and their view of body had been created through modernization as a big “cultural wave”. As research objects, we choose 1) case like “Eyou” custom at Seidaiji Kan-non-in in Okayama prefecture that contains elements of pre-modern such as naked and struggle and 2) culture such as “Bankara culture” glowed in sports team and cheer team at universities and high schools called traditional schools. As research results, we clarified one end of how the image of Japanese and their view of body had been “protected / denied / created” while being given new means such as cultural property and school culture through changing times.
