Outline of Final Research Achievements

The "German-Colonial Women's League" plaiying an important role for the migration of German women to the colonies argued German supremacy especially in the women’s sphere and constructed actively the difference of German and other peoples. On the other hand the League acted autonomously in competition with the men’s colonial League and contributed to the improvement of the staus of women. At the end of the first world war facing waves of democratization the right wing of nationalist women had to put class issues before gender issues and opposed to the introduction of women’s vote. As a whole nationalism basing on the gender difference contributed to promoting political consciousness and activity of women in various interactions of class, national and gender struggles.
