Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research piece examines the following aspects of Turkish, on the premise that language has a pitch accent: (1) whether expiratory flow increases in accented syllables; and (2) whether there is a correlation between syllable count and duration time. For the former, no relationship was found between the amount of expiratory flow and accent. For the latter, on the other hand, duration time was found to increase proportionally according to the number of syllables, regardless of the type of accent, such as pitch, stress and tone, despite existing claims that this does not occur.
