| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
まず論文では、“Sensai Nagayo: Pioneer of Hygienic Modernity or Heir to Legacies from the Premodern Era?” と題して大手前大学論集17号に拙稿を掲載した（61から88頁、単著、2017年3月）。次に 学会発表として、2016年9月30日から10月1日にかけて開催された、 The Eighth Meeting of the Asian Society for the History of Medicine: Conference on Medicine and Modernity in Asiaにおいて、“Sensai Nagayo and the Japanese Cholera Epidemic of 1877”の題目で研究発表をおこなった（Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan）。書評として、“Hoi-Eun Kim, Doctors of Empire: Medical and Cultural Encounters between Imperial Germany and Meiji Japan,” をEast Asian Science, Technology and Society: An International Journal、10号 (2016) 誌上に発表した。最後に 海外調査を実施し、2017年2月18日から3月4日の日程で、London School of Economics Library; British Library; National Archives of UKにおいて史料調査をおこなった。

Reason
2016年度は、昨年度に引き続きLondon School of Economics LibraryにおいてWilliam Farr Papersの調査をおこなった。今年度から、同図書館におけるマイクロ史料の閲覧が格段に利用しやすくなり、画像データを自前のUSBに保存し持ち帰ることが可能となった。2017年度再度同館の調査をおこなって、同史料を全冊複写のうえで持ち帰り、分析を進めたい。
また、2016年度はアジア医学史学会での研究発表や、大手前大学論集における研究論文発表の機会を得た。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
上記「現在までの進捗状況」でも記したように、London School of Economics LibraryにおけるWilliam Farr Papers（マイクロフィルム）が格段に利用しやすくなった。これにより従来困難であった同史料の全冊複写が可能となったので、これを持ち帰り分析を進めることで、本課題の最終年度にあたっての成果を発表したい。

現在執筆中の論文で、英文にて発表を考えており、その英文校正の費用が年度内に執行できなかったために次年度使用額が生じている。
