Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Historians have not given clear pictures of the anti-Japanese activities of overseas Chinese in the British Empire during World WarⅡ. How did they conduct general anti-Japanese campaign, build communication network between them and move in such vast empire? Were there any rupture between them? In order to answer these subjects,I have made intensive investigations in such areas under the Empire as South Africa, Maurititus,Madagascar,Indo and Burma. As for the Chinese in South Africa,I attempted to research activities of Chinese or Chinese sailors and revealed their close coordination with Indians on the abolishment of racial discrimination. Regarding the Chinese in Maurititus and Madagascar, which were active trade centers in the Indian Ocean, I demonstrated the relationship between Chinese and Arab over dealing with Japanese goods. I have also made it clear that Chinese in Burma got disorganized and forced to move into India because of Japanese invasion.
