Outline of Final Research Achievements |
From a point of view to understand the duchy of Aquitaine as a projection of the institutions and the social relations, this study discussed three different aspects: At first, we surveyed some research trends of a territorial history in french academia. Next, we confirmed the itinerary of the king Edward I 's continental visit, and showed that he visited all over his territory while frequently visiting the cities and the bastides. Finally, this investigation positioned in the political situation the career of a Savoyard, who was active in the court and went across territories. By performing this study, we got a point of view to investigate historical formation and transformation of territorial unities in Aquitaine. To shed better light on these issues, we have to include longer time span (longue duree) extending from the middle ages to the early modern period.
