Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the present study, we investigated the current perceptions among the committee of the council of community transition/settlement support for people with mental disabilities (the Council) and interactive factors that may influence improvement in the committee’s positive perceptions, regarding the role of peer supporters engaged in such support, in order to expand the role of peer supporters in a project of community transition support for such people. Experiences by the committee through observing peer-supporting and learning actual experiences by peer supporters are an interactive factor that influences improvement in the committee’s positive perceptions towards the need for peer support for community transition. Therefore, peer support needs to be planned in an open environment where in-hospital staff and those outside the hospital can be involved.
