Outline of Final Research Achievements

We conducted research on teaching methods for the spread of Bayesian statistics in psychology research. I made an introductory material mainly. Published two introductory textbooks and three intermediate textbooks. Published academic papers in a Bayesian approach. The teaching materials created in this study made it possible to conduct psychology research without using a significance test. It is a unique teaching material.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

心理学研究におけるデータ分析には、これまで有意性検定による手続き化された定石があった。心理学者にとって統計法を学ぶことの多くは、これまで有意性検定の手続きを覚えることであったといっても過言でなかった。対して米国統計学会は2016年に統計的有意性とp値に関する声明を発表した。そこでは「科学的な結論や決定は、p値が有意水準を超えたかどうかにのみ基づくべきではない。」と宣言されている。しかし声明は、新しい時代の統計データ分析の必要性を示すのみで、残念ながらそれに代わる具体的な定石を示していない。本研究で作成された教材により、有意性検定を使用することなしに、心理学の研究を行うことが可能になった。
