Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research focus on the influence of the last Sanda lord, Kuki Takayoshi, and the former Sanda Domain members, employees of Shimasan Shoukai, in the urbanization of Kobe city during the modern period. It was discovered that Kuki Takayoshi and the employees of Shimasan Shoukai were involved in the establishment of several educational institutions, such as Kobe Home (now Kobe College). In addition, a map showing the land owned by Shimasan-Shoukai and its employees during the Meiji Era was elaborated based on the former land register and the cadastral map stored at the Ministry of Justice.
