Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed at developing the driving support system which heightened driver’s ability to expect potential hazards and corrected driver’s precautionary observation to four directions of crossing bicycles when a vehicle turned left at signalized intersections. The driving support system was designed, which included two kinds of systems. One is the real-time support system which directed driver’s eye movement to the determined areas corresponding to the driving. The other is the driving instruction system which made a driver understood the safe precautionary observations after the driving and corrected driver’s eye movement in the next driving. Through the experiment using a driving simulator, the use of both systems could highly improve unsafe precautionary observations. Finally, this study showed the requirements to design the driving support system.
