Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
After finishing the preliminary readings required to properly frame the research, I have completed the acquisition of documents relating to the development of ADR in Europe and Japan, including the latest reports by the EU Commission and the Japanese Ministry of Justice. I also was able to establish contacts with the Justice Commission of the Italian House of Representatives, in order to have a deeper understanding of the legislative process behind the implementation of the EU Directives in Italy (being Italy an excellent case study of the ADR phenomenon in Europe). I also attended some events on Arbitration and ADR, therefore being able to receive and updated feedback from accomplished academics and practictioners from all around the world. I was able to complete a paper which is to be published in a volume, edited by A. Ortolani, "Diritto e Giustizia in Italia e in Giappone: Problemi attuali e riforme" (Cafoscarina, Venice, 2105). Some results of my research are included in a paper that is forthcoming in the "European Journal of Comparative Law and Governance". Also, I assisted in organizing a conference that will take place in Tokyo, at the Italian institute of Culture, on July 19th, 2015.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Althought I was not yet able to conduct a full research trip to Europe on this research, the collection of documents is almost completed, and thanks to my academic network I was already able to gather a number of opinions and comments. The most time-consuming part of the research is therefore behind, and what is left to do is basically to elaborate the gathered information and to polish the resarch findings in order to make them ready for dissemination.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plant to visit Europe at least two times to conduct a conclusive, in-depth, collection on materials and to speak in at least 3 international conferences. Then, I will spend a short research period in Tokyo and Kyoto to complete the Japanese side of my research and for a final discussion with selected Japanese scholars and practictioners. Then I will start processing the results of my research, which I intend to publish on an internationally acknowledged international journal and present in at least one major international conference. I expect the publication to be ready before the end of FY27, but, due to publication time, it could be released later on in 2016.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to academic reasons I believed more appropriate to postpone some research trips to Europe to fiscal year FY27. However, as already explained, this is not interfering at all with the smooth progress of the research plan.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
The collection of materials I had to purchase is completed and I do not expect any significant expenditure in this regard. As mentioned in the future research plan, I expect to carry our at least two research trips to Europe and short research stays (Tokyo) and daily trips (Kyoto) in Japan.
