Research Abstract |
Some findings of the survey conducted in Okinawa This research project has been carried out from 1985 through 1987 in Okinawa. Following are some of the findings obtained through analizing the related materials, interviewing sociologists at related institutes, conducting a survey etc, 1. US influence on Okinawan politics, economy and social development 2. Japanization/or unification of Okinawans after reversion 3. Changing process of family lives and kinship organization 4. Diversifying family pathological problems 5. Okinawan social characteristics observed in life and behavior patterns 6. Regional differences of social phase in Okinawa 7. High divorce rate and higher percentage of unwed mothers may be related with kinship net
