Research Abstract

The experimental system was up-graded by introducing an AO modulator for incident light modulation and a commercially available signal analyzer for digital processing of the photoacoustic signal.
Photoacoustic determination of glucose concentration was conducted with the use of multi-layered films as dyeing material. The signal intensity was found to be linear in the range from O to 2 g/l of glucose.
The absorption spectra of component layers in a color reversal film were separately measured non-destructively. Distances between layers were several micrometers thick, so that the resolution in thickness attained in this study was spproximately several micrometers.
Correlation photoacoustic technique was applied to the study of energy transfer of biacetyl. The results were compared with those obtained by the ordinary phase technique. The correlation photoacoustic spectra of the first and the second kind were measured at room temperature, 30 Torr. The spectra of the second kind were measured at the delay times between 0.06 and 3.30 ms. These were equal to the time resolved photoacoustic spectra, where the intensity of the absorption band at 285 nm growed faster than that at 455 nm. This was consistent with the results reported in terms of the phase lag between the fast and the slow heat.
Correlation photoacoustic spectroscopy was carried out in X-ray region using synchrotron radiation as an exciting source.
