Research Abstract |
It is very important to know a wetting prorerty and joinability between luquid metal and ceramics to produce a composites materials such as FRM. The purpose to this porject is to clatify the facters which affect a wettabbility of ceramics by liquid metals and a joinability between ceramics and metals and to produce composites materials. The main results were as follows. A production method of ceramics had han an gerat influence on wettabilty of ceramics by liquid metals. This facts suggests that it is possible to control the wettability by paying attention the production method. A wetting phenomenon could be affected by a surface structure of ceramics. In the luquid pure copper/SiC single crystal system, the characteristci wetting behaviout was observed. This behaviour had not been reported before. The hexagonal wetting which was obsavred in the system would have direct relation to a surface structure of Sii A new method for evaluating a wettablity of fiber by luquid metals have been developed. By adding a certain amount of Li to liquid Al, wetting of C was promoted and also the reaction between liquid Al and graphite was restricted.
