Research Abstract |
1. As a summary, KUBO made a general study of iconographical transformation of 'The Last Supper' which is one of the most typical christian iconographies from the early christian era to the Renaissance. 2. In case of western art and aesthetics, OKADA described the fundamental ideas of poetry in terms of expression and communication based upon the ancient Greek texts of Homer, Hesiod and Plato. KONDO followed the changing process of iconological interpretations of 'Maria Regina'. YOKOGAWA discussed the relationship between architecture and decoration refering to J. Ruskin's ideas on modern design and art. ENDO made a historical and ideological investigation in the later 17th centrury Sspanish paintings and sculptures. 3. In case of chinese art, HATTORI proved a close relationship to have existed between a painting and the painter who gave a complementary title to it as an essential part of the work. 4. In case of Japanese art, KOISO classified the colour effects of 'vermillion' through colour scale. KOMACHIYA made a comparison of the back scenery of ink paintings with that of the Sienese paintings. TAKEDA relarted Ike Taiga's works to the Nanga style noticed in the Chinese picture album. 5. KAWAKAMI explained the social and artistic significance of the woodblock prints popularly prevalent in the 15th centrury. 6.
