Research Abstract

The heat source, water circulation system and heat exchange mechanism to form non-volcanic Thai geothermal waters are problems to be soluvied. Following are results of our study.
(1) Radon and C-13 isotope anomalies are identified around fault area.
Hydrogen gas is rarely observed at limited points of the hot springs. Helium gas isotope indicates that there are some possibilities to come up mantle material to the surface. (2) Heat generation from granitic rocks are range from 8-18 HGU. It corresponds to get 300 C at the depth of 3-5km. (3) Alteration ages of outside hot spring areas are relatively old. It indicates that the hydrothermal activity of non-volcanic geothermal systems had been continued long time. (4) There are very large seasonal change in oxygen and hydrogen isotope ratios. Accordingly, it is difficult to evaluate water-rock interaction by one fixed time data. (5) Fluid inclusion homoge-nized temperatures of drilling core are almost same as measured ones. (6) Computer modeling of shallow reservoir shows the change of flow patterns until after 8610 years.
