Research Abstract |
To investigate the genetic background and the way of prevention for farmer's lung disease(FLD), major histocompatibility complex(HLA A,B,C, DR,DQ), effectiveness of dust mask and serum specific IgA antibody were examined in dairy farmers with positive and negative serum specific IgG antibody and in the patients with FLD. Obtained results were as follows; 1) No significant difference in all loci of HLA in each group. 2) Newly developed small dust-proof mask with low inspiratory resistance was effective for prevention of FLD. 3) Specific IgA antibody was found to be sensitive enough to detect antigen exposure and to be useful in differenciating asymptomatic patients from normal farmers. These results suggest that the monitoring of antigen exposure with serum antigen-specific IgA antibody and the application of dust mask may be useful for the prevention of FLD.
