Research Abstract |
We aimed at a creative development of the social research's history, by means of the examinations of social research's historical studies that were activated since the second half of the 1980's. On the perspective of the theoretical method of social research, we examined the important persons and monographs in Japan, Europe, and North America in the history of sociai research. We placed them in relation to the contemporary social sciences and social histories' discussions. Through the two years study, we were able to study comprehensively scholars and monographs related to the history of social research in Great Britain, Germany, French, USA,and Japan : (l) The History of Modern German Social Research, (2) Poverty Studies and Poverty Research in England, (3) Burgess and the LCRC,(4) The American Soldier Research by Stouffer, (5) The Research of Lower Proletariat in Algeria by Bourdieu, (6) The Formation of the Concept of Farmhouse and Rural Researches in Prewar Japan, (7) Social Research by Teizo Toda, (8) A Methodological Study of Social Research, and (9) Social Researches in Hanshin Earthquake Disaster.
