Research Abstract |
In this study we mainly studied followings in two natural ecosystem, subtropical forest and warm temperate evergreen forest with reference to the sika deer social system. (1) Estimation of the number of sika deer and population density. (2) Recovery of flora within enclosure: grazing pressure measurement (3) Barking frequency and electivity of tree species by sika deer: forest maintenance (4) Feeding behavior of sika deer: grazer or browser? (5) Mating behavior of sika deer: variation of the social system As for the conservation program on two natural ecosystem included strong herbivore, it is pointed out and recommended that presents results were basically contribute to develop a program and more long-term study will be needed.
